Owls must much near neighbours derby day desire

Sheffield Wednesday make the short trip to the New York Stadium to face local rivals Rotherham United on Saturday. With the Millers struggling towards the wrong end of the table there is little doubt that the Owls should have more quality at their disposal but manager Steve Evans will have the home side fired up and Wednesday will need to compete in terms of attitude and determination as well as ability if they are to get a positive result.

The Owls remain without a number of injured first team players including Glenn Loovens, Liam Palmer, Jose Semedo, Will Keane and Sergiu Bus. However, new loan signing, winger Lloyd Isgrove could make his debut having joined from Southampton during the week.

Rotherham will be without Kari Arnason as the Icelandic international will serve a suspension and Jack Hunt is a doubt after picking up a knock in the midweek defeat at Nottingham Forest.

Danny Ward is in with a chance of returning from injury and midfielder Lawrie Wilson is expected to feature having joined on loan from Charlton.

The Owls may also need to beat a familiar face in the form of goalkeeper Damian Martinez. The Arsenal goalkeeper played 11 times on loan with Wednesday last season and the Millers completed his signing on Friday.

The two sides played out a 0-0 draw at Hillsborough in November and the Owls were beaten 2-1 in the League Cup last season on their only visit to the Millers new stadium to date.
