Sheffield Wednesday will again be looking to get their season up and running with a first win of the season when the host Reading at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Dave Jones has boosted his squad by extending the loan of Hull City striker Matt Fryatt for another month and bringing in Sunderland forward Connor Wickham until the end of the year. The duo are in contention to be paired together in attack though Atdhe Nuhiu will also be hoping for a return to the starting line up after impressing as a substitute last weekend.

The Owls remain with injured midfielders David Prutton due to injury and Jose Semedo due to suspension. Seyi Olofinjana could retain his place after starting at Barnsley last Saturday – his first appearance of the season having recently signed a month-to-month deal with the club.

Reading could field former Sheffield United striker and recent Owls loan target Billy Sharp in attack though the on loan Southampton forward has been struggling with an injury of late. Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and former England full-back Wayne Bridge will also face late assessments of their fitness.

Experienced striker Jason Roberts will miss out due to a long term injury as will Danny Williams, Royston Drenthe, Jem Karacan and former Sheffield United midfielder Mikele Leigertwood.

The Owls come into November without a win to their name this season though they have only been defeated in 4 of their 12 league matches.

Reading are currently 5th in the table. The Royals have lost just twice with one of those defeats coming against league leaders Burnley. Both of their defeats have come on their travels which should give Wednesday some hope.

The two sides last met in Wednesday's Championship relegation season of 2009/10. Reading won both games that season by an aggregate score of 7-0 and have not lost to the Owls in their last meetings.
