Sheffield Wednesday first warm up game of the summer ended in a 0-0 draw this evening against FC Volga Novgorod. The Russian outfit were promoted to the top flight in their country last season and provided the Owls with a stern test.

Three of the Owls new signings, Julian Bennett, David Prutton and Jose Semedo were given run-outs by Gary Megson and with Wednesday making five changes at half-time a total of sixteen 1st-team players gained a useful workout.

The match brings to an end a productive week-long training camp in the surroundings of the Austrian Alps and the squad will now return to England to continue their pre-season preparations, starting with an away friendly at Worksop Town on Saturday.
