Cautious opening approach at Millwall

Sheffield Wednesday face Millwall in London this evening and manager Jos Luhukay has gone for a very defensive looking starting line-up. Joe Wildsmith returns in goal with a back five of Loovens, Thorniley, Venancio, Hunt and Fox in front of him. Central midfielders Joey Pelupessy and David Jones pair up in front of them, youngster Jack Stobbs comes in for his first league start for the Owls this campaign with Ross Wallace and George Boyd completing the line-up.

Many were expecting Lucas Joao to start in attack having scored twice in the win over Derby last Tuesday and having been rested for the majority of Sunday’s cup draw with Swansea. The Portuguese front man is on the bench along with Atdhe Nuhiu meaning that the Owls start without a recognised striker though George Boyd did play as an attacker frequently during his time at Peterborough.

Lee Gregory and Steve Morison start in a familiar front two for the home side who have the experienced Australian international Tim Cahill on the bench. Millwall go into the game in 14th place, 2 positions and 5 points ahead of the Owls.
