Owls pegged back in friendly fixture

Sheffield Wednesday squandered a 2 goal lead in their Sunday fixture against Doncaster Rovers as the home side came from 2 goals down to earn a share of the spoils.

The Owls fielded a fairly strong side with trialist Dejan Kelhar given a full run out at centre-half. Atdhi Nuhiu gave the visitors the lead 5 minutes before half-time and Michail Antonio doubled the lead just 3 minutes into the second period follwing good work from Jacques Maghoma.

Doncaster's response was swift with Dean Furman halving the deficit after 50 minutes and Kyle Bennett's free-kick bringing the sides level with 25 minutes still to play.

Clear opportunities to win the game were few and far between for either side and although Wednesday will be disappointed not to have won the game from a strong position fitness and understanding of the team tactics is the priority at this stage of pre-season.

Next up for the Owls is their only home match of pre-season, against Newcastle United at Hillsborough on Wednesday evening.
