Owls ratings Vs QPR

Last updated : 14 April 2009 By C. Morris

Lee Grant: 6, Not at his best, made a few poor decisions when dealing with crosses.

Lewis Buxton: 4, One if his worst displays for the Owls, was given a torrid time defensively and contributed little going forward.

Richard Wood: 5, Taken off at half-time with the Owls fortunate to have not conceded two or three by this time, doesn't seem able to lead the team as a Captain should at times.

Richard Hinds: 6, Best of a bad bunch at the back but that's hardly a glowing report.

Tommy Spurr: 5, Nowhere near his best and was caught in poor defensive positions too many times.

Etienne Esajas: 6, Sometimes left his full-back too open and was sometimes wasteful but did pose a threat at times and didn't look too tired when he was substituted.

James O'Connor: 4, After a solid start to his Owls career he has gone backwards in 2009. Is not competitive enough for a defensive midfielder and is too slow in possession of late.

Darren Potter: 6, Put the odd good ball in but not consistent enough. Unable to getting the Owls ticking as an attacking threat from midfield.

Marcus Tudgay: 7, Not at his best but no shortage of effort unlike some of his colleagues. Easily the Owls best attacking player this season and deserves to be played in his favoured position more often.

Leon Clarke: 6, Touch looked a bit rusty but perhaps understandable considering it was his first start for some time. Made some good runs off the ball and won the penalty

Luke Varney: 6, Control let him down too often but was a willing runner.

Subs:

Mark Beevers: 5, Looked cumbersome and slow on occasions and played his part in the Owls capitulation.

Jermaine Johnson: 5, Hardly had a touch in his 15 minutes on the pitch.

Akpo Sodje: 5, Seems to eager to please the expectant fans, some of whom are perhaps expecting too much of him. Shot well wide from a poor position when he should have brought others into play.

Brian Laws: 5, It is not clear why Richard Wood was removed at half-time but the move didn't really improve a shocking defensive display.

Should perhaps have started the more mobile McAllister in central midfield and Tudgay should be afforded the respect and opportunity to start up front when there are ample options available to play in wide midfield.
