Owls set for Barrow boys

He may give an opportunity for the likes of John Shaw and Patrick Collins to impress and put in a bid for a first-team spot.

Matt Hamshaw and Richard Evans have both impressed since coming back from career-threatening knee injuries and providing their progress keeps ahead of schedule, they will be offered improved deals.

The Owls boss is keeping Lee Peacock under wraps until the friendly with York on Saturday.

Meanwhile, former Owls midfielder Paul McLaren is set to stay in South Yorkshire following his release - by signing for Rotherham United.

Millers boss Ronnie Moore has always had an eye on the ex-Luton Town captain despite him underachieving at Hillsborough.

McLaren had all the talent in the world but never really imposed his play consistently, and Turner released him at the end of last season.

Moore is hoping to complete the signing by the end of the week.

Steve Haslam is on trial at Huddersfield and because former boss Terry Yorath is assistant manager to Peter Jackson there, he stands a good chance of getting a deal at the McAlpine.
