Owls sign Orient skipper

Smith, who has made over 600 league appearances, put pen-to-paper on a contract that will keep him at The Owls until the summer of 2004.

Turner told The Owls' official website: "Dean is a leader who is good in both penalty areas.

"He is an experienced centre-half, which is what we've been looking for, and that experience will help him to make the step up to Division One."
