Owls start Mac talks

New Tangerines boss Colin Hendry has asked for a £250,000 fee for last season's leading scorer in the second division, and Chris Turner only wants to pay half that amount.

Sources close to Wednesday claim that the Rangers striker should sign a two-year deal to become the club's tenth pre-season signing.

The Owls have agreed a fee, believed to be around the £125,000 mark with the Glasgow club to bring youngster MacLean to Hillsborough following his successful goal-laden loan spell at Scunthorpe.

Should the marksman and club confirm these reports, MacLean will turn down Bristol City and join former Robins forward Lee Peacock in S6.

Both parties are starting negotiations tomorrow and a deal is hoped to be ironed out as soon as possible.
