Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher has won the PFA fans player of the month award for April having scored key goals that have helped the Owls cement their play-off place.

Fletcher had experienced a lean spell in terms of goals since the turn of the year but his brace of goals in a 2-0 victory at Rotherham brought an end to a poor run of form for Wednesday. The former Sunderland striker followed that up with Wednesday’s 2nd goal in a 2-1 win against Newcastle and he also bagged the equaliser as Wednesday came from behind to beat Derby County 2-1 at Hillsborough.

The Scottish international earned over 9,000 votes, nearly 6,000 more than his nearest competitor for the award, Tammy Abraham, and he will be hoping to take his fine form into the Championship play-offs as the Owls aim for a place in the Premier League.
