Hooper not ready for first team return

Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay has revealed that striker Gary Hooper has not been involved in first team training this week and is set to see a specialist to get a second opinion on his hip injury.

Former Celtic striker Hooper has not featured for the Owls since December 2017 but had been stepping up his rehabilitation in recent weeks having featured twice for the Under 23 Academy team. Luhukay stated that Hooper has been experiencing pain during his recent involvement and will need to be assessed further.

Another long-term injury victim, Kieran Lee, lasted just 15 minutes of his return to action in the academy team earlier in the month and also seems unlikely to feature anytime soon and Sam Hutchinson is also struggling to get up to full speed.
