Owls talisman is out for the season/Chelsea striker move on

Sheffield Wednesday have today been dealt a severe blow in their fight to avoid relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship with the news that Akpo Sodje will miss the rest of the season due to an ankle injury.

The striker suffered the injury playing against Wolves in January and it was initially thought that he would return to action sometime around mid-March.

Sadly the injury has now proved to be worse than was first thought and Sodje will undergo surgery in a bid to cure the problem.

In what has been a hugely disappointing season for the club Sodje has been one of the few plus points. Signed from Port Vale in August he has found the net 7 times in 16 league starts and as well as his goals his presence, work-rate and enthusiasm have often lifted the performance of the team.

Meanwhile, the Owls have confirmed rumours that young Chelsea striker Ben Sahar is to hold talks with the club over a potential loan move. The 18-year-old Israeli international will talk to the Owls on Tuesday to discuss a move that has apparently been given the green light by his parent club.
