Owls undone by last minute leveller

Sheffield Wednesday were left deflated in London as an injury time goal from Scott Malone prevented them from taking all 3 points at Craven Cottage.

Wednesday took the lead after just 10 minutes when Fernando Forestieri, praised by his manager for his sharpness in training during the week, linked up well with Gary Hooper before firing a low drive across the keeper into the bottom corner of the goal.

An enterprising first half display should have been rewarded with more goals as Hooper, Wallace and Bannan all spurned really good opportunities.

Fulham grabbed the initiative in the final 20 minutes and just as it looked like Wednesday might manage to keep their opponents at bay the hosts made the Owls pay for their missed chances when a cross was flicked on to the back post where full-back Malone controlled before lashing home for 1-1.

There were plenty of positive signs from the performance but owls-mad has already discussed how missed chances are costing the Owls dear this season and they can ill-afford to keep dropping vital points when they should have made the opposition pay.

For all their attacking options Wednesday are among the lowest scorers in the division, a statistic they must put right if they are to mount a promotion challenge.Wednesday face a trip to Wolves next weekend followed by a home game against in-form Preston.
