Owls up Howard bid

Cash-strapped Wednesday, who are having to pay small money these days for players, were chasing Howard before the start of the campaign and offered the Kenilworth Road club £100,000 for the hotshot’s services.

Howard terrorised Wednesday’s backline in their last away game of the season in Berkshire by scoring twice, including the last minute come-from-behind winner.

Howard is a typically robust striker who is big, strong and knows where the net is, something Wednesday have been missing for a good decade or so.

With Mark Robins leaving the club, The Owls do not have a predatory striker and the addition of Howard would be a good one.

Dave Allen is ready to fund the transfer fee himself, and could splash out again for Stockport forward Luke Beckett, Blackpool marksman Scott Taylor and Norwich legend Iwan Roberts who have both been linked with moves to Hillsborough in the summer.
