Owls Vs Cardiff team news

Brian Laws must choose whether to pick Graham Kavanagh from the start against Cardiff on Saturday after he limped out of Wednesday's last game against Charlton with a hamstring problem.

He was replaced by Ronnie Wallwork after just 20 minutes against the Addicks and it seems like it will be one or the other to partner Adam Bolder in the centre of the park.

Burton O'Brien could well be back in contention but the Owls looked dangerous on the flanks against Charlton and it is likely that Johnson and Small will start the game with O'Brien having to settle for a place on the bench.

New boy Ben Sahar may also have to be content with a substitute's role after a better showing from Showunmi last time out, partnering Tudgay up front.

Having helped the side to a clean sheet on his return to the starting eleven Richard Wood is likely to continue at centre-half alongside Mark Beevers.

Long term absentees Jeffers and Simek remain sidelined through injury as are Watson, Clarke and Sodje.

Darren Purse is likely to replace Glenn Loovens in the Cardiff backline as he starts a two-match ban. Robbie Fowler is likely to miss out through injury and the influential Joe Ledley is also struggling to be fit.

Wednesday were beaten 1-0 at Ninian Park last month and in truth the score line flattered the Owls who will have to play much better if they are to get a result at Hillsborough.
