Peacock gets priorities right

The former Bristol City striker has only notched one goal since his summer arrival from Ashton Gate but has played well and endeared himself to the home support with his performances.

He believes that Chris Turner may want to rest some of his regular first-team players with the tough bank holiday schedule coming up.

Talking about the Saddlers clash, he told Footymad: "This is when the rotation system may come into play. This is a tough schedule coming up but the league is our bread and butter.

"The cup games are great if you do well but that can’t be our priority but it will be great revenue for the club if we go far.

"You want to perform every game but we have to focus on the league more as promotion is the aim.

"We have lots of depth and ability in the squad, it is a long and hard season but that should keep us in good stead as the campaign goes on."

It has been a good start to the season for Wednesday despite the opening-day horror show against Colchester, and Peacock is happy to see the team bounce back quickly.

He continued: "We would have definitely taken nine points from twelve at the start of the season.

"Going into the first three games we were wanting six or seven points at least but to get the start we have following on from Colchester, we are over the moon, especially getting our home account open against Huddersfield.

"It has given the fans something to cheer about and they have got behind us well so far, we still have some good players here who were at the club last season but I think the manager may want to rotate things from time to time but all these players coming in is like a breath of fresh air for the whole club and especially the fans."

Meanwhile, Graeme Lee will be out for a month with a troublesome knee injury.
