Play-off chasers go head-to-head at Hillsborough

Sheffield Wednesday host Cardiff City on Saturday with both sides chasing the final play-off place. The Owls hold a 4-point advantage on the 7th placed Bluebirds and so the visitors know that only a win will keep them in contention going into next weekends round of matches.

Wednesday will be without Ross Wallace as he serves the 2nd game of a 3-match ban but Sam Hutchinson could return to the squad following a prolonged bout of illness. Carlos Carvalhal is not expected to make many if any changes to the starting 11 that performed well in the 1-1 draw at Derby County last weekend.

Cardiff may be without forward Lex Immers due to a hamstring injury and midfielder Joe Ralls is struggling with a thigh strain.

The Owls come into the game having not won in 4 matches though 3 of those games have resulted in draws. Cardiff beat Bolton with a last gasp goal last weekend but had not won in 4 prior to that.

The Welsh team have a good recent record against the Owls having not lost in the last 6 meetings between the 2 sides. Wednesday came from 2-0 down to earn a point when the two teams met in Cardiff back in December.
