Press speculate on striker moves

Best who scored one in just under a game-and-a-half for The Owls has been out of action with a broken foot but has recently returned for The Saints.

Chairman Dave Allen has already indicated that he will be willing to buy Best out of his own pocket to help Wednesday's current striker crisis.

And with youngster Theo Walcott currently earning rave reviews on the south coast, Best's future has been thrown further into doubt.

But reports also state that another former loan star in Jones could be another player on Paul Sturrock's shopping list.

Jones, who was a revelation for Wednesday this time last year, has struggled in Southampton's first team at times this season.

But he will be looking forward to a hectic summer though - when he lines up against the likes of England's David Beckham, Sweden's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paraguay's young sensation Haedo Valdez for his native Trinidad and Tobago.

In other press rumours, Leyton Orient's 19-year-old defender Gabriel Zakuani is also wanted by Sturrock.
