Pressure gets to Turner

Despite a cracking start to the season away from home at least, Wednesday have faltered more often than not and are currently in mid-table with absolutely nothing to play for.

When Turner first came to Hillsborough, he made us all laugh by saying the club would be in Europe in five years, and he didn’t mean away trips to Wrexham or pre-season tournaments in Ibiza!

The problem is, Wednesday have a losing attitude and have had one now for years for years, it is affecting the players, the coaching staff and the fans.

But Turner now admits that the pressure is getting to him and the mountain of expectation on his shoulders could be a little too demanding at the moment and he clearly is not getting the best out of the players he brought into the club.

He admitted: "The problems that have affected managers here in the past are now starting to now affect me. I don’t believe the players here are showing the right desire and commitment to play for the club in terms of doing things in a game of football like making opportunities to score goals.

"As a manager you can rant and rave at them and they give you poor performances all the time."

He does know the main concerns of Wednesday’s current predicament but sometimes his words and motivation are not getting through to the players.

He continued: "I know what the problems have been at this club for a long time now, at the moment it feels if things are quickly going away from you because I make several changes at times and it doesn’t improve the situation.

"The supporters feel badly let down and kicking players up the backside in the dressing room doesn’t make much of a difference. Certain players who are supposedly our best players are just not doing it for us."
