The former Wolves hitman was sacked by Wednesday for breaching club discipline and went down to Suffolk immediately for a trial.

But The Owls still hold his registration despite his dismissal and the only way he can play for Town is on loan because of the new transfer window system.

Proudlock is believed to be appealing his sacking from Hillsborough although he has said it could be the ‘kick up the backside’ he needed.

In other news, Liverpool’s Neil Mellor has reportedly turned down the chance to come to S6 on loan and fight for a first-team spot at Anfield.

And England’s Under-21 team take on Poland at Hillsborough tonight – a big crowd is expected.
