Robins Vs Owls: team news

Sheffield Wednesday travel to Bristol City on Saturday for the final away game of the 2008/09 season and will be backed by a strong fancy dress following from the travelling fans.

With 6 points still to play for this season and the chance of a top ten finish not beyond the team Wednesday will be hoping to continue where they left off following a comfortable win over doomed Southampton last weekend.

Luke Varney scored both goals in the 2-0 victory last Saturday but his subsequent return to parent club Derby means that the Owls will be forced into at least one change.

Leon Clarke is in line to return up front and if Francis Jeffers is fit and selected then player of the year Marcus Tudgay could once again have to settle for a place in wide midfield.

There are not likely to be any changes to the back four following the clean sheet last time out but winger Jermaine Johnson could push for a return if Tudgay is chosen to play in attack.

The home side are suffering with a long injury list and their squad is down to its bare bones.

Captain Louis Carey will miss out due to a rib injury and Christian Ribeiro, James Wilson and Tristan Plumber are also unavailable.

Furthermore defender Bradley Orr is serving a suspension.

Ominously attacking player Scott Murray could make a return to the City line up. 34-year-old Murray who is in his second spell at the club is a crowd favourite and this could be his final home appearance for the Robins.

Bristol currently sit in 10th place in the Coca Cola Championship but an Owls victory would see them draw level with the Robins on 60 points.

The hosts are without a league win in six which has seen them drop out play-off contention and Wednesday will be looking to improve on their last away result which saw them lose 3-2 at QPR having held a two lead in the second half.

The two sides played out a 0-0 draw when they met at Hillsborough in December.
