Scottish international Ross was wanted by Paul Sturrock in the summer but he turned Wednesday down to try and fight for a first-team spot at Ibrox.
But with Fernando Ricksen and Jose Pierre-Fanfan playing well for the Scottish champions, Ross has so far found his opportunities limited this season.
Surprisingly, fans thought that a new striker would have been top of Sturrock's wanted list because the defence as been the most consistent unit so far this campaign.
Frankie Simek has been outstanding for The Owls so far and his position could come under threat, as could Lee Bullen's when he returns from injury.
