Scouts ready for Saturday outing

Six unnamed players will be watched by Sturrock, his coaching staff and other Owls representatives the day before the Doncaster game as the club aim to strengthen before the transfer deadline day at the end of the month.

The Wednesday boss will most likely utilise the loan market, as he has done so successfully with the likes of Joey O’Brien and Kenwyne Jones this season.

Chris Marsden, Matt Hamshaw and Paul Smith are still absentees in midfield while striking cover is limited with Adam Proudlock being out for the season – despite the impressive form of Steve MacLean, Lee Peacock and the emergence of Drew Talbot.

Patrick Collins is the only recognised defender on the bench at the moment, so do not be surprised if the backline is the first to be strengthened.

With Wednesday currently fourth in the league and looking good for at least a play-off spot, any signings made now will hopefully be influential in the club’s promotion push.
