Shaw set to be loaned out

Shaw broke into the first team last season and despite some spirited performances, he was not rewarded with any goals until the last two games of the season.

The youngster was one of the few players who avoided Chris Turner’s summer cull and big things are expected from him following a prolific scoring return in the reserves.

But with Turner set to bring in two new strikers, Shaw may not get many opportunities at Hillsborough and could be the fifth forward behind Adam Proudlock, Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu and Kim Olsen.

Darlington manager Dave Hodgson is very interested in acquiring the Gleadless product and said: Shaw is one I would be pleased to have, because I feel he could do a very good job for us."

Turner believes that letting Shaw go on loan to The Quakers will be good for his development following a successful stint at York last season.
