Shaw-fire mood

Youngster Shaw scored in Wednesday’s final two games of the season and earned a new one-year deal in the process.

He believes he has to impose himself now and has to make everyone aware that he is not just a backup player, but a fully-fledged member of the first-team squad.

But the Gleadless product says that the mood in the camp is the best it has been for a long time and confidence going into the new season is very high.

He said: “Everyone’s raring to go. The gaffer’s brought in some new faces and it’s great to see them around at the training ground.

“You look at the quality of the people Chris has brought in though and there is a confidence here that wasn’t here last season.”

Meanwhile, former Owls duo Steven Haslam and Brian Barry-Murphy have been on trial at
Rochdale.
