Simek frustrated at draw - exclusive

The Owls were excellent and put in one of their best performances of the season with former target Paul Jones putting in a super-human performance to keep the home side at bay.

Simek, a late substitute for the impressive Mikkel Bischoff is happy that Wednesday are playing well, but he would gladly sacrifice performances for points at the moment.

The former Arsenal man told Footymad: "I thought we played well and created chances. We gave them the goal though just before half time and that killed us. We had our chances though in the second half where we had about five opportunities in the space of a few minutes, Folly hit the bar and I don’t know how that didn’t go in but we will take positives from it and we have another home game next week so we will have to get three points from that one instead.

"The new boys played well and they settled in well. Mikkel didn’t train on Friday so credit to him for coming in and playing well. I think they are both good players and they can hopefully help us in the dogfight what we are in."

"I think performance-wise, we have been doing enough to come away with all three points. It gets to the stage though when you can play really well and not get anything. We will keep plugging away though and we have eight games left so we need to start picking up points. We are playing well but not getting any reward at the moment. Personally I don’t mind us having nightmares but sneaking a 1-0 win!"
