Sky Blues test for Owls

The Owls registered a 1-0 against Paul Merson’s Saddlers with an exceptionally well-taken goal from Lee Peacock, his first at Hillsborough and second of the season overall.

Glenn Whelan impressed throughout and his searching ball set up the former Bristol City striker to fire home on 20 minutes.

Chris Turner surprised many supporters by naming an unchanged side – especially when Walsall turned up having made ten changes from the weekend and giving four players first-team debuts.

Coventry beat Torquay 4-1 at Highfield Road last night and two of the goals were real crackers from former Blades badboy Patrick Suffo.

The Sky Blues clash will take place on the week commencing Monday September 20 and will be sandwiched between a home game with Bournemouth and the long trip to Wales to face Wrexham.

Tomorrow on this site, Lee Peacock will look forward to the Tranmere game.
