Sodje returns south

Sheffield Wednesday striker Akpo Sodje has today completed a deal to return to League One promotion contenders Charlton Athletic on loan until the end of the season.

Sodje has recently spent an extended loan stay at the London club where he has teamed up with his brother Sam and it was no secret that boss Addicks Phil Parkinson was interested in taking him back to The Valley when his last spell came to an end.

Akpo made a brief appearance  as substitute in Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Plymouth at Hillsborough at the weekend but has struggled to make the most of his time at S6 on the whole, which has been dogged by a series of injuries.

With his current Wednesday contract due to expire in the summer the Charlton deal will take him to the end of this where he will effectively become a free agent and so it seems that the striker has played his last game for the Owls.
