Lee, who has been one of the shining lights at Hillsborough in a very poor season, had been plagued by injuries this year.

At one point during the campaign, the former Hartlepool star had fractured bones in both legs!

But Turner is worried Lee’s current ankle problem could rule him out for the rest of the league program.

Lee has been linked with a handful of First Division clubs after his impressive performances in the Wednesday backline but The Owls boss is keen to hold on to him.

Lee has recently seen a number of specialists who have warned him that rigorous training could be detrimental in the long term and he’s been advised to rest before the pre-season gets underway.

Meanwhile, Paul Smith, team-mate of Lee at Victoria Park, could also be ruled out for the season with a stress fracture.
