The centre-back – who is currently doing a sterling job at left-back, has been impressive through his 17 appearances this season.

The 19-year-old starlet was approached about a new deal earlier in the week and Spurr took no time in deliberating by penning officially today.

Wednesday even have an option to keep the player at Hillsborough for a further season, potentially tying up the player's long-term future at S6.

Brian Laws meanwhile believes that Mark Crossley and Wayne Andrews will be fit to take on Southampton on Saturday after the loan duo were taken off against Birmingham City last weekend.

One other line, Laws has confirmed that he will not be persuing the signing of Woking's Shwan Jalal as the manager believes the Woking goalkeeper has potential but unfortunately not at championship level.
