Stopper saddles up for Walsall

The former Preston star has been inspired at times this season and has come away with a respectable three clean sheets from the opening eight games of the season.

One of those shutouts came against The Saddlers when they came up to S6 for a league cup clash and put out a virtual reserve side to lose narrowly 1-0, a scoreline which with all due respect, flattered them somewhat.

Lucas told Footymad: "I expect Walsall to be a totally 100percent changed team to that of what we saw in the league cup clash."

Lucas says that The Owls at times seem to play with a little nervousness at Hillsborough, especially with the crowd’s expectations - but it is totally different on the road.

He added: "I think playing away from home takes a lot of pressure off us because we have far more freedom to play on other people’s patches.

"I am looking forward to it and it is a good chance for us to get three points."

Meanwhile, United boss Neil Warnock admitted that he wanted a team full of former Wednesday players on a Radio Sheffield phone-in - he signed Alan Quinn and Lee Bromby and was also 'very interested' in bringing in Kevin Pressman and Derek Geary during the summer.

When asked about a link to striker Adam Proudlock, Warnock uttered "no comment."
