Striker battle

Rangers striker MacLean was the leading scorer for Scunthorpe United last season whist on loan at The Iron and impressed not only Chris Turner with his goalscoring prowess but also new Robins boss Brian Tinnion.

Both clubs have agreed a fee believed to be around £150,000 for the young Scotsman's services and now it is just a matter of choosing Wednesday over City.

MacLean is furious with the Ibrox club for not giving him a chance by looking for new strikers and he even found out about the offer from Bristol by reading the club's official website!

He said: "I just want out of Rangers now because I'm not wanted, I went on the Bristol website and read for myself that they had agreed a fee.

"It's funny to see the club looking at players like Nacho Novo because I could have done a job.

Taylor meanwhile was comfortably the old second division's top marksman last season and wants to move away from Blackpool to be closer to his ill London-based father.

The star, who claims to be 'messed-up' at the moment with his personal problems told the official Tangerines site: "After thinking about the Sheffield offer, it became more and more attractive.

"If I moved there, I would move to down the M1 where I would be just an hour away from home, whereas at the minute I am faced with a journey, which takes at least three-and-a-half hours, some times over five hours.

But Turner will only sign one of the players to become his tenth and probably final signing of the summer.
