Two goals in two games for the Scot and rave reviews have boosted his already confident mood.

He believes that he is starting to gel a great partnership with Lee Peacock and can bring more than just goals to Wednesday’s game.

He told Footymad: “Lee and I are good friends on and off the pitch, which is good for strikers. We complement each other and we are very happy the way things are going so far.

“I got the reputation of being a poacher at Scunthorpe – I score lots of goals and people just see me as being a goalscorer but that’s not true as I like to hold the ball up and link the play as well which I feel I have been doing.

“Obviously you want to get goals but I am just as happy setting the lads up as the victories are important.”

The former Rangers man, signed for a bargain £150,000 in the summer also claims that making the step up from football’s fourth tier is not a problem.

MacLean continues: “I never doubted it would be a problem stepping up from the old third division to this league because I had to take a step down to go to Scunthopre from Rangers to get some first-team football and I knew it was going to be hard but I think I have not done that bad so far.”
