Striker's cheeky goal claim - exclusive

The former Bristol City striker has had his fair share of injuries this season and picked up a knock after the Stockport game but he came back strong and was in the thick of it when Wednesday got the injury-time winner at the KC Stadium thanks to James Quinn.

“It was my goal,” Peacock told Footymad, rather enthusiastically. “Quinny may have claimed it but it was a yard over the line first so I thought I would clear that up straight away!”

But in all seriousness, Peacock is absolutely delighted that Wednesday have secured a play-off berth and thought that the club should have been there long before the clash at
Hull.

He added: “It’s brilliant to be there but we should have been there a few games ago to be honest but we have finally got there after a long slug so on Saturday we can get a good result so hopefully we go into the play-offs with a good run behind us.

“The injury time goal, that usually goes against us and that’s the bit of luck we needed and it was such a bonus. The lads throughout the team were fantastic – Drew (Talbot) and Quinny up front were superb.

“I didn’t train all week leading up to the
Hull game. I got myself mentally better but then I got a knock on my foot, I went for an x-ray and it is still giving me a bit of grief but I guess it can be classed as my lucky bad foot now because we got into the play-offs!”

Meanwhile, Wednesday have started selling tickets for their home play-off fixture today which will be against Brentford, Tranmere and the winner of the Bournemouth v Hartlepool game.

The fixtures will be played on Thursday 12 or Friday 13 May with the second leg on Monday 16 or Tuesday 17 May - those dates will be confirmed next Monday hopefully.
