Sheffield Wednesday’s woeful run of form needs to come to an end on Saturday when they host fellow strugglers Bristol City.

The Owls may have to make do without the services of on-loan forward Jay Bothroyd as he continues to nurse the ankle injury that saw him miss last weekend’s narrow defeat at league leaders Cardiff City.

Defender Antony Gardner and striker Mamady Sidibe, who limped off in the first half last Sunday, face fitness tests ahead of the game.

David Prutton when hope to retain his place in midfield having recently returned from a loan spell at Scunthorpe and will Danny Mayor after making his first league start for the Owls.

Rodri will be hoping for a rare chance up front for the goal shy home team with Chris O’Grady and Gary Madine also in contention.

Bristol City could be without former Sheffield United striker Jon Stead due to a groin injury. The visitors also have injury concerns over the likes of Louis Carey, Lewin Nyatanga and Stephen McManus.

On-loan Leicester City midfielder Neil Danns is expected to feature.

Wednesday have now lost 6 matches in a row and have slipped to 23rd place in the division. Bristol have only won once since the middle of September though that victory was an impressive one away at in-form Middlesbrough 2 weeks ago,

Of the 40 league games that the 2 teams have played between them so far this season they have a combined total of 26 defeats and just 8 wins.

The 2 teams last met in January 2011 when League One Wednesday recorded an impressive 3-0 win at Ashton Gate.

Wednesday have won 15 of 25 home clashes with Bristol City, losing only 5 of these matches but Bristol have not lost in their last 4 visits to Hillsborough, winning 3 of them.
