Sheffield Wednesday have today turned down two separate bids from QPR for defender Tommy Spurr and winger Jermaine Johnson.

The fees involved have not been disclosed but Owls Chief Executive Kaven Kalker told the clubs official website " We have no intention of selling either Tommy Spurr or Jermaine Johnson as these two players are both top assets in our playing squad."

Spurr, is considered a hot prospect. At just 20 years old he has come through the ranks at Hillsborough and has made the left-back spot his own since having a prolonged run in the team last season and he can also play at centre-half.

Johnson joined from Bradford City in last seasons January transfer window and is currently holding down a 1st team place on the right of midfield.

While it is no secret that Wednesday boss Brian Laws may be forced to sell players in order to bring in new faces in the transfer window, it would be disappointing to see any young 1st team players go to struggling Championship rivals, however Wednesday fans may have to brace themselves as vultures will look to pick off the Owls prize assets cheaply given the clubs ongoing financial difficulties.
