Tudgay on hot streak - exclusive

Tudgay is happy with his current run after suffering a freak pre-season injury and now hopes to impress the new boss, Brian Laws.

He told Footymad: "Earlier in the season I was a bit down but that's football for you. You have your dips and you have your lows, missing pre season is hard because you lose your sharpness but now I am getting back to the way I should be. It does take time, like I said its part of football, but I am very happy with what I have done and I am happy with the goals."

Tudgay hit a brace against Leicester City at the weekend added: "Yeah we were happy with the performance on Saturday. I am even happier about getting the two goals but the three points is paramount. At the moment I am really enjoying my football. Getting the goals is part of it but hopefully that will carry on as well as us getting the wins so we can help out the team. A new manager has been appointed but at the moment we are really enjoying our football and we are going to carry it on."

But the former Derby striker heaps praise on his fellow hitman Deon Burton, who has been a pivotal aspect of Tudgay's current form and knows that the Jamaican international will soon hit the headlines too.

He added: "Deon is a great player, he knows about me and I know what he can do. We work well and it's simple: he goes short I go long on a lot of occasions and we have got a great understanding about it all. He is a bit disappointed because he isn't getting goals but I keep telling him that they will come, he has to keep playing, keep battling but they will come."

Tudgay's fine form also got him in the championship team of the week.

Meanwhile, Laws has conducted his first player transaction after farming young Northern Ireland defender Rory McArdle back to Rochdale until January while former caretaker manager Sean McAuley has signed a new long-term contract at the club as he goes back to his old job of being academy director.
