Sheffield Wednesday held their seasonal awards ceremony at Hillsborough last night and Marcus Tudgay scooped two of the gongs.

The 26-year-old striker has enjoyed his most productive season to date with 14 goals thus far and it was no surprise to see him win the official player of the year accolade.

In addition to his goals his has shown an exemplary attitude when asked to play out wide for the team and his work rate this season has been top notch.

Tudgay added the Owls goal of the season award to his player of the year title for his magnificent strike at Bramall Lane, a goal which secured a memorable long-awaited league double over their city rivals.

Goalkeeper Lee Grant has also been in excellent form for much of the season, drawing attention from Premier League scouts and even England representatives. His performances have obviously not escaped the attention of his team mates as well as he scooped the players' player of the year award.

The Young Player of the Year Award went to 20-year-old Luke Boden. The Sheffield lad has progressed through the academy to the first team.

Boden has gained experience from two short loan spells at Chesterfield and Rushden & Diamonds this season and has been a regular fixture in the Owls squad of late, making a number of substitute appearances.

England World Cup Winner and former Owls boss Jack Charlton was the guest speaker at the ceremony which was hailed as a great success.
