Turner - I'm disgusted

The Owls went down to the Spireites 3-1 in a display that has typified some of the performances during their demise from the Premiership on a dark day for Wednesday.
The goalkeeper was uncertain, the defenders were shaky, the midfielders didn’t battle and the strikers failed to convert their few chances – an all too familiar showing for the team who despite playing against an un-inspiring and relegation-threatened outfit, were still second best.
Turner was honest in his appraisal of the game by saying: “If I wanted to sum up my real thoughts, I would be letting a lot of people down. I’m virtually disgusted about how some of the players took on their jobs on the field of play.
“We didn’t create enough and didn’t have enough strikes on goal, while one or two players went to sleep before half time. The captain (Dean Smith) held his hands up for the second goal as he probably tried to dummy the ball and let it through to Ola Tidman but Glynn Hurst was alert and suddenly you are 2-0 and it’s an uphill battle.
“Graham Lee was the only one who was trying to keep the ball out of the net for the third goal, the rest were just standing around him,” he told Radio Sheffield.
Alan Quinn was sent off towards the end of the game for an elbow on Gareth Davies.
Wednesday fans were wondering why one of his underachievers were not taken off for a more youthful option, although it is pretty obvious that Turner has no faith in the likes of Laurie Wilson, Lewis McMahon and Liam Needham, who again were just keeping the bench warm.
Turner says that he would love to change things for the visit of the Dingles next week but doesn’t have the resources – I say get the current England boss in, at least he isn’t afraid to make substitutions!
