Sheffield Wednesday face Wigan Athletic at Hillsborough on Saturday as the Championship returns following an international break.

The Owls will be without David Jones as the midfielder serves a suspension following his dismissal against Brentford last time out.

Other than that Carlos Carvalhal has plenty to choose from with captain Glenn Loovens in contention to return from injury and new signings Adam Reach and Urby Emanuelson hopeful of featuring. Scottish duo Barry Bannan and Steven Fletcher return after positive displays at international level

Wigan made a number of signings on transfer deadline day with Adam Le Fondre, Nathan Byrne, Reece Burke and Kaiyne Woolery and hoping to make the debuts for the visitors.

Wednesday got off to a solid start, taking 4 points from 2 games against fellow promotion hopefuls Aston Villa and Norwich but they have picked up only 1 point from their last 3 games.

Wigan have 4 points from their opening 5 games back in the Championship after gaining promotion from League One last season. Their 2 away games so far have both resulted in defeats by 1 goal.

The two sides met competitively for the first time in 2014 and in the 4 times they have faced each other both have won twice.
