Sheffield Wednesday travel to the Ricoh Arena on Saturday looking to build on the last-gasp win over Watford in midweek as they look to improve their Championship survival hopes.
Alan Irvine looks set to be forced into one change to the side that started the game on Wednesday evening. Midfielder Tommy Miller limped out of the clash with the Hornets during the first half and will have a scan to assess his calf injury next week. Leon Clarke could come in up front with either Marcus Tudgay or Luke Varney reverting to a wide midfield position though Irvine has also intimated that a change of formation is also an option and the same players could be utilised in a 4-3-3/4-5-1 set up.
Jermaine Johnson is not expected to be ready to make a return from a hamstring injury and Lewis Buxton is also sidelined but other than that the Owls have no fresh concerns and Francis Jeffers could also come into contention in attack having made two brief appearances from the substitute’s bench in the past two home games.
Coventry will be without former Doncaster wide player Michael McIndoe who remains sidelined with a back problem. Other than that Chris Coleman’s squad is free of any injury or suspension problems. The Welshman could however choose to make changes to the side that were unlucky to lose 1-0 at WBA last time out with striker Clinton Morrison amongst those in line for a recall.
Former Owls captain Richard Wood is expected to face his former club for the first time since his much-discussed departure earlier in the season.
Wednesday will take confidence from a run that has seen them go unbeaten in four but they have not won any of their last six away games.
Five wins in six during February and early March gave Coventry hopes of a late play-off push but they have stumbled of late with no wins in their past four outings.
The Owls have an awful record at the Ricoh Arena and have not won a match there since the Sky Blues moved to their new home. Wednesday’s last away win against Coventry came at Highfield Road back in 1996, since then they have lost eight and drawn three of their eleven visits.
