Cup game televised
Sheffield Wednesday’s 2020/21 season will start with a 1st round Carabao Cup tie at Walsall and the match will be screened live on Sky Sports.
With the start of the season delayed due to the late finish to the 2019/20 season, the early fixture schedule will see 4 rounds of the League Cup played by the end of September. The 1st round takes place on the 5th September and the Owls travel to the Banks’s Stadium on that Saturday for a 2.15pm kick-off.
Walsall are currently in League Two and finished last season in 12th place. The fixture will be Walsall’s first competitive game since March after the League Two season was cut short due to COVID 19. The two sides last met in the 2011-12 season in League One when they drew 2-2 at Hillsborough while two late goals saw Wednesday beaten 2-1 in the away fixture on Boxing Day.
