Will city rivals do the Owls a favour?

Sheffield Wednesday travel to Coventry City on Saturday buoyed by the last gasp win against Watford and a positive result could potentially bring a number of clubs closer to the battle to avoid the drop.

Local counterparts Sheffield United face Scunthorpe at home in a Sunday lunchtime kick-off and a positive result for the Owls on Saturday combined with a Blades win would see Wednesday go above Scunthorpe in the table. Although Scunthorpe have found some good form in must-win games over the past week Sheffield United are strong at home and if they still harbour any hopes of reaching the play-offs then three points from this game are surely a must.

Elsewhere on Saturday the other clubs around the Owls in the table all have home games but they all face sides that are either looking to cement a play-off place or still have ambitions of sneaking into the top six come the end of the season. Second bottom Plymouth face a rejuvenated Blackpool side, Crystal Palace entertain 6th placed Cardiff, Watford are at home to Middlesbrough and Derby do battle with East Midlands rivals Leicester City.

All are tough fixtures but with the unpredictable nature of the Championship there are likely to be plenty of twists and turns before the season reaches its climax on Sunday 2nd May.
