Surprise deal for Wednesday wide man
Sheffield Wednesday winger Andre Green has today joined Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava on a free transfer.
The move comes as something of a surprise as Green only joined the Owls in January and so was only 6 months into an 18-month contract at Hillsborough. He had also featured in Wednesday's first three matches of the new season though he was left out of the squad for Tuesday's match against Fleetwood Town.
Although Darren Moore had shown faith in Green, the former Aston Villa man failed to make a significant impact in many of his performances for the Owls and a summer refresh means that Wednesday are not short of options in his position.
Green leaves Hillsborough without scoring for Wednesday, having made 13 appearances. After signing as a free transfer for the Owls it is believed that the club have received a fee from Slovan Bratislava for the transfer but the figure has not been disclosed.
