Wood aims for improvement - exclusive

Wednesday's play-off opponents were confirmed as The Bees following their defeat to City at Hillsborough and the young defender was disappointed with the 3-2 home reverse.

Wood told Footymad: "I am disappointed, we played well in the second half but I am glad I scored. The referee wasn’t good enough but in the second half we showed what we can do but we can do much better than that. We hopefully will put in two good performances in the next week, we’ll see what happens."

The Bees have done well against Wednesday this season with a win at Hillsborough with ten men and a draw at Griffin Park, when they looked dead and buried at 3-1 down but Wood is confident that Wednesday will cope with Martin Allen's men this time around.

He added: "Brentford have sort of had our number this season but if you look back at the games, you will see that we dominated them in both of the encounters – they broke away and got the win at Hillsborough but hopefully we can get the win this time out.

"It is an awkward place to go to because it is a tight, small ground but our away form is second to none and we can turn any team over on our day."

Wednesday will play at home on Thursday and away on Monday, both 7.45pm kick-offs.
