Wood and Rocky on Hull draw - exclusive

Wednesday drew 1-1 with Hull City at Hillsborough last night and opened the scoring through loanee Leon Best only for Nick Barmby to equalise.

Best was taken off injured towards the end of the first half and it is still to be seen if he plays for the club again.

But Wood sees the positives from The Owls' two draws so far and he thinks that so far the signs are good.

He told Footymad: "So far things are going alright. You can’t really take anything from the Stoke game because they were down to ten men. So far we have done well but it’s a shame we haven’t clocked up the three points yet.

"We are still trying to find our feet in this league and we looked more comfortable in the second half – we dominated and looked fitter and stronger than them.

"I think it will take me a few games to get used to the pace of this league. The gaffer’s offered me a two year deal and I was happy to take it, it shows he has belief in me and I am happy to carry on playing well.

"The positives we can take from the start of the season are that we have competed well and not lost yet; we are undefeated and looked fitter and stronger against Hull which is a good sign. The last ten minutes of the game are important as you can’t lose concentration and concede goals then so things have gone well."

On defensive partner Graeme Lee, who has had his fair share of injury problems during the last two seasons, Wood said: "Graeme’s done well, we work well together but he just needs to get a bit fitter and I am confident that we will form a good partnership."

Meanwhile, midfielder Rocastle remains optimistic, he said: "We have done well so far. I think we were unlucky against Hull, we took the lead, played well and we were disappointed to come out with a draw again.

"To be fair the game could have gone either way, but it’s a good start for us as we are unbeaten and it still keeps the camp positive and hopefully we can start turning these draws into wins soon."
