Wood options reduced?

A possible way out of Hillsborough for central defender Richard Wood appears to have been closed for the time being at least as one of the clubs thought to be interested him have today signed another defender on loan.

Coventry City were the club believed to have made the firmest approach last season for the former Owls captain who has refused the offer of a new contract at S6.
This interest seems to have cooled somewhat however as the Sky Blues have today moved to sign West Bromwich Albion centre back Leon Barnett on loan until the end of January.

Wood is said to be available to go out on loan with the view to a permanent transfer and the latest interest in the player is rumoured to come from Ipswich Town, Sheffield United and Notts County.
League Two promotion chasers County certainly appear to be in a position to offer an inviting financial deal but a drop of two divisions may not be ideal for the 24-year-old at this stage of his career.
Wednesday will be hoping that the matter can be resolved as soon as possible in order to try and bring in a suitable replacement.
