The 19-year-old defender who has been a mainstay in the Owls backline since December also admits that Wednesday's team spirit is getting better and better.

He told Footymad: "A couple of months ago we would have lost that game but the team have shown great character since the early days of the season and that character at the end of the day will get us promotion. It’s good to play with a few different players but everyone at the club knows the job that they have to do. I have to come out as well and show my leadership qualities and try to help the team grind out wins.

"I am totally playing on adrenaline at the moment and I’m loving every minute of it – I just want to carry on and play as many games as I can. I have heard the gaffer say that some of the young players in the squad have not played 48 games in a season before but that doesn’t matter to me as I want to play every single match. Fitness wise I am absolutely fine at the moment. I have got stronger and I have been doing weight training."

On Talbot, who has three goals in about 60 minutes of substitute action, Wood said: "Drew’s done well so far. He’s very young but he is very level headed. He knows what he needs to do and he is very sharp and that can only be good for the club. He is quiet and doesn’t get above himself, he has proven he is a good player and he has very good feet. We have seen that he likes to get in behind the defenders with his pace and there’s no doubt that he is also a quality finisher."
