Woody pens new deal

The 21-year-old defender has been an instrumental part of the Owls team in the last few years and will now stay at Hillsborough until 2009.

The player has been sidelined with a groin injury since February but Paul Sturrock still sees him as a key figure, despite the signing of Algerian international Madjid Bougherra in the summer.


When the youngster finally does get back into the team, he should easily clock up his 100th appearance in blue and white – not bad at all since making his debut in 2003.


Play-off hero Drew Talbot meanwhile is back in full training after a knee problem and could be playing again in the reserves later in the month – same goes for Barry Corr.


In other news, the club have denied that boxing promoter Dennis Hobson has started takeover talks at S6.
